Rogue Tomato Rank: I Petitioner:Tomaj, Sandsea Tavern/Rabanastre Reward:300 Gil, Potion x2, Teleport Stone, Galbana Lilies |
This is the only hunt that is given in the main story line. The little rascal is found within the first section of the Dalmasca Estersand. The battle itself is pretty cut and dry. Head in with physical attacks, and beat him into submission. Use a potion if your HP gets too low. May not seem like much of a hunt, but you are in the very beginning of the game after all. |

Thextera Rank: I Petitioner: Gatsly, Sandsea Tavern/Rabanastre Reward: 500 Gil, Headguard, Teleport Stone |
You might want to wait on this mark, until you have at least aquired Penelo in your party. Thextera is never alone, and the other enemies can prove to be devistating to one character. Start off by getting rid of the wolves that join the mark. If you are doing this quest before you go into the palace, you will be without your gambits. If you go after, make sure to set two of your characters to heal, and leave one as the main attacker. After you get rid of the wolves, the battle with Thextera is pretty straight foward. Keep eveyone healed with Cure or potions, and keep hacking away. The only threat is late in the fight, Thextera will begin to use his Saber attack. This attack can be lethal to a character without a lot of HP. He will also call for more help, so expect to fight some more lesser wolves. |

Flowering Cactoid Rank: I Petitioner: Dantro, Dalmasca Estersands Outpost Reward: 500 Gil, Potion x10, (Cactus Flower) |
Our little cactoid friend can be found along the northern wall between the two exits north. Before heading into the fight, try to eliminate all the other enemies in the area. This guy loves to run after taking so much damage. If you have other enemies in the area, they will soon join the fight with him. Best to not let him draw in other enemies. Just keep up and keep on him, and you will get the better of him. Watch out as he nears death though. He will begin using 1000 Needles, which can wipe a character out instantly. Try to finish him off before he can unleash it on your party.
After you defeat the little menace, you will get a Cactus Flower. This is an item used in another small quest. (See Patient in the desert Misc. quest for more information) |

Wraith Rank: I Petitioner: Milha, Lowtown North Sprawl Reward: 500 Gil, Ether, Gauntlets |
You will fight the Wraith in the same place you fought Firemane earlier. Wraith loves to use Doom on a character, which will KO him on the count of 10. If you have purchased the Remedy Lore 3, use a Remedy to counter the effect, if you have not, make ready to bring them back if they fall. Wraith has a weakness to Lightning, so you might want to use that to your advantage. Pelt him with Thunder spells, to take him down quicker. A strong Quickening chain will also do him in instantly. |

Nidhogg Rank: I Petitioner: Aekom, Bhujerba/Lhushu Square Reward: 600 Gil, Rose Corsage, Balaclava, (Great Serpent Skin) |
Nidhogg is a major user of Poison, so come prepared with gambits that remove the effect. The beginning of the fight is easy enough. Have two reserved for medics, and have you main attacker focus on fighting. As the fight wears on though, Nidhogg will become increasingly faster. This can be a bit complicated for a weaker party. If you have Haste in your arsenal, use it on the main attacker. This will get you a boost in speed to couonter Nidhogg. When he nears death, he will get a massive boost in defense. Try to take him out quickly with your fighters, or a strong Quickening. |

Cluckatrice Rank: I Petitioner: Dania, Giza Plains Reward: 1000 Gil, Jackboots, Rainbow Egg |
In order to get the Cluckatrice to appear, you must first defeat every enemy in the area. I would even go for the non-violent enemies. Once you have done this, leave and re-enter the area.
The Cluckatrice is accompanied by three of its chicks. Though the Chickatrices are less powerful, they can be a major pain to a weak party. I would not suggest doing this hunt until after you have a party of three or more. Take out the babies as fast as you can, then focus on the mother. The Cluckatrice will hit you with Stone, so come prepared with Gold Needles, or Stona. Hit hard, and keep everyone in top shape. If there are Quickenings available, make use of them. It will greatly help elliminate this fowl beast. |

Rocktoise Rank: I Petitioner: Pilika, Khus Skygrounds/Bhujerba Reward: 1200 Gil, Hi-Potion x2, Heavy Coat |
Rocktoise will be accompanied by undead foes. Take care of them quickly, then focus on the oversized turtle. In this fight, you will want to keep your party pretty spread out, due to Rocktoise's frequent area attacks. Have two characters equip range weapons, and set them to healing, while your main character should focus on fighting fast and hard. If you have Bravery and Haste, they can make the battle go much more swifter. When more undead appear, take them out quickly. |
